ARRIVAL AND TRANSPORT

There are two ways to get from Cusco to Machu Picchu Historical Reserve: by hiking (Inca Trail) or by train (from Cusco or Ollantaytambo train station). Most visitors choose to arrive by train, a journey that is rich in scenic beauty, 3 1/2 hours from Cusco or 1 1/2 hours from Ollantaytambo.

Upon arrival in Machu Picchu pueblo (Aguas Calientes train station), an Inkaterra staff member will meet and help you with your luggage to Inkaterra Machu Picchu hotel. Alternatively, you may choose to take the one-, two- to five-day Inca Trail hike (camping along the route).

TERRAIN

Nature Park trails and ruins, cloud forest and mostly natural pathways all throughout. Rocky stairways or rough trails with some steep climbs.
